Thesis

Fabrinet is the dominant outsourced manufacturer of complex optical assemblies, building transceivers, line cards, and photonic modules for Cisco/Acacia, Lumentum, Coherent, Nokia, and Infinera. Roughly three-quarters of revenue sits in datacom and telecom optical, with datacom now the fastest-growing slice as hyperscaler 800G ramps flow through the customer base.

The model is a high-mix, high-precision contract manufacturer with sticky qualified processes and a long Thailand manufacturing footprint. Customer concentration is meaningful, and Fabrinet captures EMS-like margins rather than component economics — the upside is unit volume and capacity utilization during AI optical buildouts, not pricing power.

Catalysts

  • 800G and 1.6T transceiver volume flowing through anchor customers
  • New customer ramps and program wins beyond the existing top accounts
  • Capacity additions in Thailand to meet AI-driven optical demand
  • Diversification into adjacent automotive and industrial optical programs
