Thesis
dLocal operates cross-border payment rails purpose-built for emerging markets — connecting global merchants (large platforms, SaaS, marketplaces) to local payment methods across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. It is the literal read of "emerging-markets payments infrastructure" and remains GAAP-profitable.
The investment case is take-rate per transaction times volume growth across a network where each new local rail is high-margin once integrated. Risks are real and have materialized before: customer concentration (a handful of large merchants drive disproportionate volume), governance scrutiny following short-seller reports, and FX volatility that can distort reported take-rates between quarters.
Catalysts
- Total processed volume growth across LatAm and Africa
- Take-rate progression as product mix shifts to higher-yield rails
- Concentration trajectory among top merchants
- New-market launches and local-rails coverage expansion
